Graduate students enrolled at St Hugh’s College are automatically included in the MCR community. The MCR strives to be as inclusive as possible, so there are also opportunities for partners and families to join as affiliate members.
Membership rules are detailed in the Constitution. Membership questions and concerns can be addressed to the MCR Vice President (mcr.vicepresident@st-hughs.ox.ac.uk).
MCR members
MCR members have full voting rights in elections, as well as access to all MCR events and facilities. As per the Constitution, it is possible to opt out of MCR membership, but before doing so we’d encourage you to reach out with your reasons so that we can work together to ensure the community suits your needs as well.
MCR Affiliate Membership
We welcome all applications for Affiliate Membership, particularly from your family and partners, to ensure a well-rounded experience for all of you. Affiliate members enjoy many of the same benefits, with access to most events; however, they are unable to vote in MCR elections.
Please don’t hesitate to apply for affiliate membership by sending a written request to the MCR Vice President (mcr.vicepresident@st-hughs.ox.ac.uk) before the 0th week of any term. The request should specify the reason for your application and a brief description of your association with a member of the MCR. A vote will be held by the MCR Committee. If admitted, an affiliate membership fee is required for the year, or on a term-by-term basis. The amount is subject to review by the MCR Committee each year and will be detailed in the Constitution.
Fourth-year undergraduates of the College are encouraged to apply and will pay a reduced membership fee of £20 for the academic year. Fourth-year Medics and students reading for a Diploma at the Saïd Business School are automatically enrolled as affiliate members.
